I'm inspired by Loving Annie's outpouring of appreciation that she gives to her supporters. You asked how I "did' mine -- all by hand, writing everyone's name/blog adress down, as each comment is made. then checking it every time they comment again over the month... Then ranking them with the most number of comments at the top, down to the honorable mentions at the bottom.
I must have been an accountant in another life :)

Do you get your comments sent to an email address? If you are, you can use Google mail search to search the messages. (Like, I searched for "in:comments after:2007-10-01 from:-{my-comments-email-address}", which found the mail I labeled as comments and after 2007-10-01 and excludes {my-comments-email-address}.)
Actually, I also use Thunderbird to read my mail. I created a search folder and sorted by sender. Made the counting real easy.
Of course, I don't have the numbers you do. So, Wow you do quite a labor of love.

I do know how it is reading so many blogs and feeling like you have to have something witty to say. But, supportive isn't always witty, though sincerity is a big plus.
